Week Thirteen Review/Week Fourteen Preview

Researched Essays are due by Midnight Monday!

Last week you had the opportunity to work on your essay and finalize the questions that you had in regards to the essay itself. For this week’s class, we will be moving into the essay exam unit and preparing for the final exam. It’ s time to return to your text and get a little bit of reading done.

Last Week In Review

Last week provided you with the chance to work on your essay and ask questions before the final submission deadline of Monday. Everybody should have paid the MLA handbook close attention since this will be very important to the grade you receive on your essay. I’ll be around all evening Monday (online) if you need me.

Next Week

Tuesday

We’re going to start this period off with an in-class blog. I’ll be giving you a sample exam prompt to write about to see where you are at the beginning of this unit. Then we’ll spend the remainder of time discussing the apprehensions you have about taking an essay exam and we will talk about past experiences we’ve all had with essay exams.

Thursday

For class, you will need to read two sections in your text and respond to them individually in blog posts.

First, read the section in Chapter 24 entitled “How Exams Written Under Pressure Differ from Other Essays” (714-715).

Then, read the section “Analyzing Exam Questions” (717-722).

When you have finished each of these sections, I want you to respond to them in a blog post. For this blog, see the post Essay Exam Blog 1&2.

See you Tuesday.

Is the paper due by midnight on monday too for those of who visited write site?

  2. Ms. Blackwell,

I was wondering whether we were supposed to put a “Dear…” and “Sincerely/Thank you…” on the cover page letter of our controversial paper?

Also, I tried placing my cover page above my paper, but it messed up the numbering of my pages. It keeps counting the first page of my actual paper. Would you happen to be able to help me fix that problem? Or should I just send the cover page and my essay separately?

As always, if you visited the Write Site, you have a 24 hour extension as long as I have a signed page from your Write Site visit.

Yes, you need to put a salutation and a signature on your letter. That’s is part of the letter formatting.
